GAMES OF REGENERATION
Feb 2023 — Concept
-
My first collection of 2023 — this series explores human connection through the concept of playing. Games of Regeneration is a comment on the ways in which we play with one another both literally and figuratively in an attempt to connect. Allegorical games often become an unspoken practice for us as adults — as if the guidelines have been learned over time and have become hardwired. They insidiously complement our coy and guarded nature.
-
Then there are the sincere ways in which we play, endeavoring to experience pleasure and remove our masks to understand one another and ourselves deeply. My inspiration for this collection extended from fond recollections of nights playing cards with people I love – discussing anything at all, drinking wine and listening to music – all while fulfilling our innermost childlike intuition.
